| Dear Colleagues : |
| We cordially invite you to join the 19th General Meeting
of the International Mineralogical Association (IMA) to be held in
Kobe, Japan, from July 23rd to 28th, 2006. The IMA is the only truly
international organization promoting mineralogy, and is supported
by subscriptions from 38 national mineralogical societies worldwide,
with the General Meeting held every four years in one of the subscribing
countries. The aim of the present Kobe Meeting in 2006 (IMA2006-Kobe)
is to bring together scientists and researchers in the fields of mineralogy,
geochemistry, petrology, mineral deposits, and related areas from
all over the world to discuss recent progress and future trends. IMA2006-Kobe
is organized jointly by The Mineralogical Society of Japan, The Japanese
Association of Mineralogists, Petrologists and Economic Geologists,
The Society of Resource Geology, and The Science Council of Japan. |

| Nestled in lush natural surroundings between the Rokko
Mountains and the Seto Inland Sea, the port city of Kobe has benefited
from its excellent natural harbor for more than 1,300 years. Kobe
is now one of the world's foremost port cities. Traditional Japanese
culture is also very much alive in Kobe, which is home to many historic
shrines, temples, and traditional seasonal events. Kobe's rich blend
of traditional Japan and various other cultures gives the city a unique
atmosphere. |

| We heartily look forward to meeting you at IMA2006-Kobe, which
will provide you with a wealth of outstanding scientific information
and a great opportunity to interact with many colleagues in an excellent
environment. |
| |
| Sincerely yours, |
| |
