Aug. 31 Kyoto World Heritage Tour

See some of the historic monuments of ancient Kyoto on this tour of four UNESCO World Heritage Sites: Byodoin Temple, To-ji Temple, Nishi-Hongan-ji Temple, and Nijo Castle.

Sept. 1 Kyoto Nature and Sightseeing Tour

Board the Torokko Romantic Train at Saga Station for a scenic ride to Kameoka. There, take a boat ride on the rapids of Hozu River to Arashiyama for a look at the graceful Togetsu “Moon-Crossing” Bridge. Then it’s on to Kinkaku-ji Temple, Kyoto’s majestic Golden Pavilion.

Sept. 1 Nara Sightseeing Tour

Explore the sights of Japan’s ancient capital. At Todai-ji Temple, see the Great Buddha housed in the world’s largest wooden building. Then walk the stone lantern-lined pathway to one of Japan’s most famous Shinto sites, Kasuga Grand Shrine. Finally, catch a glimpse of what ancient Nara was like on a stroll through Nara-machi.

Sept. 2 Japanese Culture Tour

Experience traditional Japanese culture through the Zen Buddhist practice of zazen meditation at Kennin-ji Zenkyo-an Temple, lunch and sightseeing at Tofuku-ji Tentoku-in Temple, and a tea ceremony in Shijo. Then it’s on to Nishiki Market for a look at “Kyoto’s Kitchen.”
