Presidential Invitation to Attend IPA's Osaka Congress
Dear Colleague,

It is with excitement and anticipation that we announce IPA's 13th International Congress, IPA 2007 Osaka Silver, which will be held 14-18 October 2007 in Osaka, Japan. Not only will this be an outstanding Congress in a special location, but it marks IPA's 25th anniversary! On behalf of IPA, I invite you to join us for this most important scientific meeting which IPA has crafted with a unique and diverse program that will bring together an outstanding array of presenters, a combination of the established leaders in the field, new researchers and seasoned clinicians. A key goal of this meeting is to unveil new research findings together with translational sessions that integrate the science of Psychogeriatrics with its multidisciplinary practice. The breadth of the scientific program of the Silver Congress ranges from the basic science of genetics and neurochemistry to new concepts, models and research on ethnocultural services, personality and development in old age, evolving diagnostic techniques and the newest treatments. I assure you that you will leave this meeting warmed by associations with colleagues from around the world, and newly invigorated and excited about your work.
For a quarter of a century, IPA has been at the forefront of guiding the science and practice of Psychogeriatrics via our development of regional psychogeriatric initiatives around the world, developing consensus on standards of practice, and disseminating knowledge through our meetings, journal, newsletters, and specially developed educational materials. A central part of IPA's mission is to develop and disseminate the highest quality educational material, details of the advances in the science of our subject, and links with other individuals and organizations. The ensuing knowledge is utilized to improve patient care, enhance trans-national collaboration, and research, training, service delivery and public policy. Perhaps most important, IPA is the home of a stellar international family of colleagues.
At this Congress, IPA will welcome you to a special celebration marking this historic moment in the life of our organization and we are pleased to do so in the country that hosted the 4th IPA Congress in 1989. It will be an acknowledgement of the many colleagues who have contributed to these advances: researchers, clinicians, allied healthcare professionals, agencies, program administrators, and policy makers. The Osaka 2007 Silver Congress will be a celebration of IPA, its role in the development and expansion of the field, and of the remarkable advances of the field.
Please join us in Osaka. Come for the science, the education, the colleagues, and the celebration!
Sincerely,
Joel Sadavoy
