Dear Colleagues,

It is a great honor for us to organize the 8th International Training Course on Carbon-ion Radiotherapy 2020. This year's meeting was initially planned to be held at Chiba and Gunma after the 2020 Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic games. However, after careful consideration of the Covid-19 epidemic spread, the organizing committee has decided to hold the meeting in this year online only. The virtual meeting will be held as web-based meeting from16th November to 29th November 2020. We’re keenly aware that holding this year’s first virtual meeting is an important milestone for us.

On behalf of the organizing committee, I would like to invite you to participate in Web-based Training course, International Training Course on Carbon-ion Radiotherapy 2020.
The lectures will be given on the basic knowledge of charged particle radiotherapy with protons and carbon ions, including the rationale for this therapy, the physical and biological aspects, the optimal treatment planning, commissioning procedures, and clinical results of various types of tumors. We will also provide lectures regarding irradiation techniques to avoid potential adverse effects for each tumor site.
We are convinced that this course will serve as an introduction for those new to the field and as a useful resource for those currently involved in charged particle radiotherapy in a clinical setting.
