The 30th World Congress of Biomedical Laboratory Science

Dear fellow microbiologists,

We have seen in dismay the recent astonishing, catastrophic events that have taken place in Japan. There are no words to express our sorrows at the tremendous losses suffered by the people of Japan. The Executive Board of the IUMS send their special wishes to all Japanese Microbiologists and hope all problems will be solved and that life and science will recover soon.

From the Chairman of the Japanese Organizing committee, Dr Fusao Tomita we have been infomed that they do not experience any problem in Sapporo and he ascertain that the venue of the congresses, which is on the island Hokkadoi, is not damaged and safe. Sapporo is more that 535 km north from Sendai, the region which was hit by the earthquake and tsunami.

Because of the recent events the deadline of the submission of the abstracts is extended to March 31, while Early Registration is available until June 30, 2011.

Please forward this message to the members of your societes and ask them to register for the congresses of Mycology, Bacterioloy and Applied Mycology and Virology. Any new developments will be posted on the IUMS Sapporo website.

With best regards

Rob Samson
IUMS Secretary General
