Abstracts sent by mail or FAX will not be accepted. Please download the submission form and use it to send an abstract of your paper to the following e-mail address: Wateryokohama-paper@congre.co.jp When submitting the form, please indicate the technical session (1, 2 or 3) in which you wish to participate and the manner in which you wish to present your paper (i.e. oral or poster). Technical Sessions Session 1: Advanced water treatment technologies Chair: Yoshimasa Watanabe(Professor, Graduate School of Engineering, Hokkaido University) Topics: Membrane filtration, advanced water purification, ultraviolet disinfection, alternative coagulants, environmental measures, renovation of facilities, testing methods, purification management, e-Water project, etc. Session 2: Advanced technologies and appropriate management for water distribution Chair: Akira Koizumi (Professor, Graduate School of Engineering, Tokyo Metropolitan University) Topics: Distribution network, block distribution system, water service system without receiving tank, information management, diagnosis, monitoring and control, water quality management, removal of suspended matter, leakage, new material and new methods of construction, earthquake resistance, risk management, Epoch project, etc Session 3: Development of water utility management Chair: Shoichi Kunikane(Director, Department of Water Supply Engineering, National Institute of Public Health) Topics: Privatization, third-party entrustment of waterworks management, PFI, PPP, water system for large supply areas, performance indicator, O&M, risk management, etc. Instructions for production of abstracts: • Abstracts should be in English, less than 1,000 words in length, cover no more than two A4 sheets, be produced in the form of a Microsoft Word document, use the Arial font (10.5 points), and include no more than two figures and illustrations (to be incorporated in the text). • Submissions from within Japan may alternatively be presented in Japanese (43 characters x 38 lines, 10.5 points). Deadline for submission of abstracts: Friday, March 31, 2006 Decision and notification of acceptance: A decision on whether to accept or reject an application will be reached following examination of the abstracts by the Program Committee. Authors will be notified by e-mail whether their abstracts have been accepted for presentation or not. If there are too many applicants for oral presentation, an applicant may be requested to present a poster presentation instead. • Oral presentations: Successful applicants will be required to submit their papers in full in the English language. Papers will be published in the symposium anthology. • Poster presentations: There is no need to submit a full paper. The abstract of the paper will be published in the symposium book of abstracts. Papers deemed appropriate by the editor of AQUA will be considered for publication in the IWA's academic journal, the " Journal of Water Supply Research and Technology: AQUA." Notification of decision on acceptance: Middle of May 2006. Deadline for submission of full papers: Friday, June 30, 2006. Full papers in English: • - Papers should be between 5,000 and 6,000 words in length. • - Papers should include an abstract of between 100 and 200 words and should list at least six key words or terms. • - The structure of a paper should in principle follow the format of "Introduction," "Methods," "Results and discussion," "Conclusions," and "References." Symposium Registration: Registration deadline: 20th October 2006 Presenters oral and poster should submit their registration forms and fees in the "7th International Symposium on Water Supply Technology" in the same manner as regular participants.
