The dates and venue have been decided for
the postponed 75th Annual Scientific Meeting of
the Japanese Circulation Society

We would like to inform you that after a careful deliberation by the board of directors for the Japanese Circulation Society decided to postpone the convening of the 75th Annual Scientific Meeting (JCS2011). As detailed below, the new dates and venue for the Meeting have now been decided. JCS2011 which will be held on rescheduled dates, August 3 and 4, will differ from the usual format. The meeting period will be shortened to two days and we will not invite overseas lecturers for the reason indicated below. We appreciate your kind understanding and cooperation to this matter. The Meeting will be operated in a manner that pays due consideration to power-saving measures that will be required during the summer months.

Given the shortened period of JCS2011, the registration fees are scheduled to be reduced to 10,000 yen. Details of this reduction will be notified to participants at a later date.

Outline of Meeting

• Date: Wednesday, August 3 and Thursday, August 4, 2011
  Venue: Pacifico Yokohama
• In view of the overall situation, including the impact of the accident at Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant and the possibility of aftershocks occurring, for JCS2011 it has been regrettably decided not to invite lecturers from overseas.
• The Annual General Meeting will be held during the two-day meeting. The date and time of this meeting will be notified to relevant members once confirmed.
• All 2,362 abstracts that had been accepted for the originally planned JCS2011 will be presented during the rescheduled meeting.
• The Oral Presentations and Poster Sessions will be held in accordance with the original decision. The Oral Presentations (English/Japanese) remain as originally planned but the format for the Poster Sessions will be notified at a later date.
• Although the Keynote Lectures by invited overseas guests in the Featured Research Session have been cancelled, the remaining presentations will be given in English as originally planned.
• In view of the shortened length of the Meeting, the schedule for the Oral Presentations will be changed. The program that had been decided for March 18 and 19 will go ahead as planned on August 3 and 4, respectively. The program initially scheduled for March 20 will be split over the two days of August 3 and 4. The secretariat will be contacting each presenter concerning the possibility of making a presentation under the new schedule. Some sessions may be restructured depending on the number of presentations that are cancelled.
• In the event that abstracts that had been accepted for JCS2011 have already been submitted for presentation at any other scientific meetings following the postponement of JCS2011, a final decision on whether to make a presentation rests with the presenter him/herself. However, if a presentation is made at another scientific meeting, the presenter is requested to change the title and abstract content.
• Late Breaking Clinical Trials Session:
  This session will be held as initially planned. Requests will be accepted for the withdrawal of presentations that have been presented at any other meetings after the original March timeframe.
• Educational Program and Lecture on Medical Ethics and Safety: These will be implemented as originally planned.
• Co-medical Session: This will be implemented as originally planned.
• In view of the current situation it has been regrettably decided not to invite overseas lecturers. Accordingly the 11 Special Lectures will all be cancelled.
• Details concerning the plenary sessions, symposia, and Congress Chairperson's Special Programs will be notified at a later date. Due to limited space some of these events will be cancelled.
• Sponsors' Seminars (including Luncheons and Fireside Seminars) will be implemented as originally planned to the extent that it is possible to do so, after confirming the intentions of corporate sponsors (a total of 70% of the originally planned events are expected to be held).
• Joint Symposia with Overseas Academic Societies:
  These will all be cancelled.
• Public Symposia: These will all be cancelled.
