It is imperative for a heart team that all members should be knowledgeable in the field and should communicate each other effectively and candidly. For successful valvuloplasty, surgical planning by an experienced surgeon based on the preoperative multimodality imaging is important. During operation, an expert echocardiographer should provide information on valvular and ventricular dynamics and evaluate the surgical results. After surgery, the heart team is expected to have thorough discussion on the procedure using intraoperative echo and video images and postoperative echo images. Thus, a heart team should function in cooperation for the best results. In the symposium, the significance of a heart team and how to establish and utilize it will be discussed based on actual cases. Presentation from heart teams, not from solely a cardiology division or a surgical division, would be anticipated.
