The countries of the Asia-Pacific are disparate and are at different stages of economic development, have different healthcare system and access to modern medical care. Acute myocardial infarction (AMI) is a well-defined clinical entity, with well-established guidelines on treatment. However, across the region of the Asia-Pacific, treatment and outcomes of AMI have been different. The extent of these differences is not clear. In order to drive change and improvement, it is now imperative that we start a collation of key AMI data from each country in the Asia-Pacific region, which may contribute to the future Asian guidelines.
