The 83rd Annual Scientific Meeting of the Japanese Circulation Society

Joint symposium
Usefulness of stress echocardiography

ENGLISH

Chairperson: Kazuhiro Yamamoto
(Division of Cardiovascular Medicine, Endocrinology and Metabolism, Faculty of Medicine, Tottori University)
Echocardiography is an indispensable tool for the diagnosis of cardiovascular diseases and the assessment of their severity. However, a routine examination is conducted at rest, and it is not unusual that there is a discrepancy between the results of echocardiography at rest and the symptoms of patients. This is because exercise/stress induces myocardial ischemia and/or the changes in cardiac function and hemodynamics. Stress echocardiography can fill this gap and provide useful information in evaluating the severity of cardiovascular diseases, deciding therapeutic strategies, and assessing the therapeutic effects. In this session, experts from South Korea and Japan will give lectures regarding usefulness of stress echocardiography in clinical practice.
