As the congress president of the combined meeting of the 7th APOSSM and JOSKAS 2010, I am pleased to welcome you to Okinawa, Japan. The APOSSM is a society across the countries extending from the Eastern Asia and Oceania to the Middle East. The society is growing rapidly. Also, this society has started to publish an official journal ‘SMARTT’. In Japan, we had two discrete societies, the Japan Arthroscopy Association and the Japan Knee Society. After 3 years of trial unification, these two societies officially united in 2009 to make the Japanese Orthopaedic Society of Knee, Arthroscopy, and Sports Medicine (JOSKAS). Thus, this is the first combined meeting of APOSSM and JOSKAS. I hope this meeting will be a great opportunity for many doctors in the Asia-Pacific countries to come and share their knowledge and experiences in sports medicine. This combined meeting also offers you a wealth of opportunities on the latest techniques of arthroscopy, sports medicine, and orthopedics. Okinawa is one of the most popular tourist resorts in Japan with its scenic beauty and exquisite cuisine. In particular, July is the best season to enjoy tropical Okinawa with emerald ocean, white beach, and cobalt blue sky. I hope that you enjoy this meeting and invaluable experience in Okinawa.
Dear Friends & Colleagues,
At the turn of new decade 2010, APOSSM is proud to present the biennial meeting along with the JOSKAS Meeting in the beautiful setting of Okinawa.
Building on the tremendous success of the 2008 WCST in Hong Kong, APOSSM has launched a series of initiative to spearhead the networking and promotion of education and clinical excellence. The biennial meeting hosted by our Japanese friends in 2010 is indeed a continuing momentum to showcase the best clinical practice and top notch research. We would like to share with all the colleagues, not alone the Asia-Pacific region but around the world the latest technological advancement in clinical practice. The sessions will be arranged in such a way that there will be extensive discussion and sharing with mentors and masters. It would be truly stimulating and rewarding.
APOSSM has also established an administrative office in Hong Kong in maintaining the regular work pertaining to the management of a new website, which is the window to our communication and networking, continuing the collaboration with ESSKA and AOSSM in the intercontinental traveling fellowship, and also supporting the SMARTT journal editorial office.
APOSSM is emerging as a one of the leading voices of the orthopaedic sports medicine in the world. We welcome all of you to join us in Okinawa to share this exciting new decade.
