Welcome Address from Program Chair

Dear All,

On behalf of the Organizing Committee of the APSN/JSN 2012, I would like to invite you to participate in the Joint Symposium of 11th Biennial Meeting of APSN and 55th Meeting of JSN, which will be held in Kobe, Japan. Especially, this meeting will partially overlap with the 34th Annual Meeting of Japanese Society of Biological Psychiatry. You will have an access to all the programs of the Biological Psychiatry meeting upon registration for the APSN/JSN joint meeting, which will offer an exceptional and international platform for neurochemists all over the world, especially those from the Asia-Pacific region.

The meeting will address major topics of latest developments in basic and clinical neuroscience research with an emphasis on 'Brain chemistry: Integrating the Mind'. The purpose of the meeting is to offer an international forum of scientific exchange for researchers and clinician neuroscientists by a series of sessions on distinguished scientific developments.

We will have three distinguished Plenary Lectures during the meeting. We also have 12 symposia and 8 young investigator colloquia that focus on the cutting edge researche in the field of basic as well as disease-oriented neurochemistry. I am sure that there will be a plenty of opportunity for discussion and communication among researchers, and for young investigators to present their work in and outside the lecture hall.

We hope that many neuroscientists around the world will join us to help make this meeting more educational, exciting and successful.

We look forward to welcoming you in Kobe!

Woong Sun., Ph.D.

Welcome Address from APSN President

Dear Colleagues,

It is with great pleasure that I invite and welcome you to participate in the 11th Biennial Meeting of the Asian Pacific Society for Neurochemistry, or APSN2012. This meeting is special because for the first time ever it is a joint meeting with the 55th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society for Neurochemistry. Moreover, the excitement is tripled with the meeting running conjoint to the 34th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society of Biological Psychiatry.

Dr Woong Sun and his colleagues in the Program Committee has worked hard to put together an impressive program, one that is both cutting edge and encompassing. The conference venue at the Kobe International Conference Centre is a state-of-the-art facility and you can be assured that Dr Kazuhiro Ikenaka and his colleagues in the Organizing Committee will attend to every detail so that your conference will be a memorable experience.

We always strive to take our meeting to interesting places in the Asia Pacific region and it is no exception this time. Kobe is a beautiful city well known for its sea port and the beef that bears its name. It is also the site of one of Japan’s most famous hot spring resorts, Arima Onsen. Visit Kobe and be fascinated.

Finally, I would like to thank everybody who has worked to make this joint APSN and JSN meeting a reality. I wish all participants an enjoyable and fruitful conference. See you in Kobe!

With best wishes,

Peter T.-H. Wong, Ph.D.

Welcome Address from JSN President

It is my great pleasure to welcome you to our annual meeting for the Japanese Society for Neurochemistry (JSN) jointly held with biannual meeting for the Asian Pacific Society for Neurochemistry (APSN). This meeting is the 55th JSN meeting and we are the oldest Neurochemistry society in the world with 1500 members. We are always willing to form a close relationship with other Asian neurochemistry/science societies and thus to hold annual meeting with APSN is our great opportunity to meet and to make friends with Asian/Pacific researchers. Fortunately, this meeting will be held in conjunction with the 34th annual meeting of Japanese Society of Biological Psychiatry, which will further widens the scientific scope of the meeting. I hope all the participants gain a lot of new information, exchange ideas and find new collaborators in this meeting, and enjoy wonderful atmosphere in Kobe. Kobe is famous for its beautiful sea port. Especially the view of Kobe city/port from the top of Mt. Rokko at night is worth trying. Importantly, it is very far away from the Fukushima power plant and no contamination has been reported.
So, please feel safe to visit Kobe.

I wish to thank Professor Woong Sun, the program chair, Professor Kazuhiro Ikenaka, chair of local organizing committee and their colleagues for organizing this excellent meeting. I look forward to seeing you all in Kobe!

Sincerely,

Kazuhide Inoue, Ph.D
