The 49th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society for Spine Surgery and Related Research

Greetings

The 49th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society
for Spine Surgery and Related Research
Congress President: Yukihiro Matsuyama, M.D., Ph.D.
(Professor and Chairman, Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, Hamamatsu University School of Medicine)
会長:松山 幸弘

The 49th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society for Spine Surgery and Related Research will be held at Nagoya Congress Center from April 16 (Thursday) to 18 (Saturday), 2020. It is a great honor to serve as the chairman of this long-standing academic meeting. I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to all the members of the conference for giving me this opportunity.

The 49th theme is "From All Japan Being Globalization".
Why "All Japan"? And what is globalization?
A registration system has been launched by many academic societies in Japan, and thus cases of orthopedic surgery and spinal surgery are now being registered for the first time in the country. It is time to disseminate this valuable information from a case registration database covering the whole of Japan to the world. We also need to focus more on the fast-growing Asian countries, as well as the West, and to share information with and complement each other. I feel there is a strong need to distribute such information from Japan and Asia to the world. Takuya Nakata, President and Representative Director of Yamaha Co., Ltd., will give a lecture on the direction of globalization and culture.

In line with this theme, we have decided to give all co-sponsored seminars, educational training lectures and special lectures in English. Many foreign doctors will participate in the conference and, to enable them to enjoy the discussions, all slides should be written in English. The themes of the meeting are: 1) A review of adult spine deformity, 2) Can thoracic spine OPLL be overcome? The dangers of the anterior approach and posterior approach, 3) Ultra-minimal invasive surgery – a surgical video session, 1: Forgotten to convey to juniors Not Case 2: Skill of craftsmanship; show skill of court carpenter 3: We will plan points and plan to prepare a debate. I would like everything to be prepared in English, including by all overseas participants.

Spring is a very pleasant season in Nagoya with the cherry blossoms still remaining. I think everyone will be able to enjoy the open and pleasant spring breeze at the venue. We will prepare many Hamamatsu specialties at the venue and will do our best to convey the attractions of Hamamatsu.

We look forward to welcoming you here.
