Japan has visa waiver agreements with 74 countries/regions.

2. Procedures to obtain a short-term stay visa

If you're not from a visa-exempt country or have a non-qualifying passport, you must apply for a single-entry short-term stay visa.
The chart below provides an outline of the procedure.

If you require a visa to enter Japan and need supporting documents to participate in APPREA2026, please select the visa support service during the online registration process and complete the required payment.
Participants from visa-exempt countries are not required to use this service.

Service Name:  Visa Support for Short-Term Stay (Temporary Visitor) Visa – Document Preparation Service

Service Fee:  JPY 15,000 per person

After completing payment of both the registration fee and the visa support service fee, please download the [Questionnaire Form], complete all required information, and send it directly to the Visa Support Desk by email.

  • Registration Number(the 4-digit number in your registration confirmation email subject line)

Important Information

  • All communication regarding the visa support service will be handled by email only.
    Telephone inquiries will not be accepted.
  • Document preparation generally takes approximately one week from receipt of a complete application.
    Please ensure sufficient time before your intended travel date.
  • The Congress Secretariat and the Visa Support Desk do not guarantee that visa documents will be issued in time if the request is submitted close to your departure date.
  • We ask your kind attention that the acceptable duration of stay for visa support is 5 days maximum, including arrival/departure date, due to APPREA2026 organizer’s policy.
    Basically, no overstays are acceptable, especially for tourism purposes.
    If the above is not acceptable, please apply for a tourist visa by yourself, and note that no support will be provided from APPREA2026 secretariat in this case.
  • The Congress Secretariat and the Visa Support Desk will not contact Japanese embassies or consulates to request expedited processing.
  • The organizer does not guarantee visa issuance.
    The final decision rests solely with the respective Japanese Embassy or Consulate.
  • The visa support service fee is strictly non-refundable, regardless of the outcome of the visa application.
