Naoki Yoshimura

Dear Colleges and friends,

The 57th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society for Cardiovascular Surgery will be held in Toyama City from March 4 to 6, 2027. It is a great honor not only for me but also for all my colleagues to host this historical and traditional scientific meeting. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all members who have nominated and approved us for this responsibility.

The theme of this meeting is “Higher than Mountain! Deeper than Ocean!”. In the past few years, the environment surrounding cardiovascular surgery in Japan has changed dramatically. The declining birthrate, aging population, uneven regional distribution, and the decrease in surgeons are causing us suffering. We need to continue to work hard to improve the treatment of cardiovascular surgeons, work-life balance, and regionalization of institutions. I thought I should stop here and study cardiovascular surgery in depth, so I decided on this topic theme. Please take a break from the harsh daily life and take a leisurely break in Toyama to study "cardiovascular surgery". I believe that the most important thing in the scientific meeting is to "create a good scientific program". A total of 37 outstanding cardiovascular surgeons in six areas: congenital, coronary, valvular and arrhythmia, heart failure, thoracic aorta, abdominal aorta and peripheral vascular have created an amazing program. I believe that this program will be more profound by the deep discussions with invited speakers from all over the world. We would like to ask all the members to submit many academic abstracts.

There is nothing special in Toyama. However, there is everything in Toyama. Delicious rice and delicious vegetables are harvested from the fertile land where meltwater flows from the Tateyama mountains. Toyama Bay brings fresh seafoods. High-quality rice and high-quality water make the finest “SAKE”. The Tateyama mountains and Toyama Bay create an unparalleled view. And above all, the people of Toyama, who are full of humanity, warmly welcome you. There are many restaurants around the venue. After exciting discussions in the meeting, please enjoy delicious “SAKE” and foods. I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible here in Toyama.

Sincerely Yours

March 2026
