SUBMISSION SUMMARY

PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING:
(Failure to do so may result in your paper being rejected for review)

・Submission items MUST include ‘SEPARATE’ files for:

1. Cover letter
2. Manuscript Text
3. Tables/Artwork
4. If you wish to apply for the JSPS PSI Prize, you should state that in a cover letter in red type.

- Each figure/table should be on a separate file, e.g. 3 figures = 3 separate files.

- Figures must be in JPEG or TIFF format. Do not embed figures into MS Word. Each figure should have a concise caption describing accurately what the figure depicts. Include the captions in the text file (Figure Legends) of the manuscript, not in the figure file.

- Use the table function in MS Word, not spreadsheets (i.e. MS Excel), to make tables. For each table, please supply a table caption (title) explaining the components of the table.

In the “Materials and Methods” section, institutional names should NOT be given, since all manuscripts will be reviewed in a BLIND manner. If the paper is accepted for publication, institutional names may be added back in the Materials and Methods section, (if needed) by the author when making revisions.

・Documentation of the IRB or Animal Care committee approval should be included in the methods section of the manuscript. Approval must be documented in the text.

・Manuscripts submitted for publication must contain a statement to the effect that all human studies have been approved by the appropriate ethics committee and have therefore been performed in accordance with the ethical standards laid down in the 1964 Declaration of Helsinki. It should also be stated clearly in the text that all persons gave their informed consent prior to their inclusion in the study. Details that might disclose the identity of the subjects under study should be omitted. The PSI (JSPS Issue) Publication Committee office reserves the right to reject manuscripts that do not comply with the above-mentioned requirements. The author will be held responsible for false statements or failure to fulfil the above-mentioned requirements.

・Authors must indicate whether or not they have a financial relationship with the organization that sponsored the research. This note should be added in a separate section before the reference list. If no conflict exists, authors should state: The authors declare that they have no conflict of interest.

・Mark the location of the figures/tables in the margin at the same level where they appear in the text (This is easy to do in Microsoft Word, using the insert command, then choosing the text box and typing "figure 1", etc.).

・Separate files of the submission items are to be submitted to the PSI (JSPS Issue) Publication Committee office to “BOTH” the following e-mail addresses:

h2kita@marianna-u.ac.jp (Hiroaki Kitagawa)
h-shima@marianna-u.ac.jp (Hideki Shima)

Please put the first author's last name in the subject box of the e-mail (e.g., Subject: Jordan PSI manuscript).

You will receive an e-mail confirming that the publications committee has received your manuscript. However, if you do not receive a confirmation e-mail within 5 working days, please contact the Publication Committee office at both e-mails provided.

・Artworks are to be submitted as SEPARATE JPEG files and must not include any description. Name your figure files with "Fig" and the figure number, e.g., Fig1.eps. If the JPEG is > 2 megabytes, the file size for the picture should be reduced until it is < 2 megabytes. The total size of the attachments in a single e-mail must be < 10 megabytes.

・Manuscripts coming from non-native English speakers must be accompanied by a signed document that indicates the manuscript has been checked and proof-read by a native English speaker. (Japanese manuscripts must be checked by a native English speaker, but the country where English was learned will not be requested)

・Manuscripts coming from non-JSPS members will need to be sponsored from a JSPS member. Information of “Sponsor” (a JSPS member) such as name, institution, e-mail address, telephone and fax number MUST be provided.

The ultimate number of papers accepted for publication will depend upon the number of manuscripts received by the due date, inclusion of the mandatory IRB or animal services application number, and the ability to conform to the overall page limit of the issue as dictated by Pediatric Surgery International. In addition to being reviewed for mandatory compliance with deadlines and guidelines of manuscript preparation, papers will be assessed for originality, importance, scientific merit, study design, and writing quality.

Presentation of your paper is not a guarantee of acceptance for publication.

Should you have any questions about the manuscript review process, or if you have not received an e-mail confirming its receipt, please contact the PSI (JSPS Issue) Publication Committee office by e-mail. Thank you very much for you kind cooperation.
