Program overview

This workshop highlights the appropriate utilization of instrumental swallowing evaluation, videofluoroscopic swallow study (VF) and videoendoscopic swallow study (VE) as a treatment-oriented evaluation. In the VF/VE sessions, participants will see normal swallowing images and representative abnormal swallowing images to learn 1) the observational points, 2) the evaluation to detect abnormal findings, and 3) the way to interpret the findings. By utilizing the observation and interpretation skills, in the last sessions, the participants will practice the whole process of clinical decision from evaluation to planning of treatment through a dysphagia case. To make a treatment plan, it is focused to consider the pathophysiology under abnormal findings such as aspiration and residue, not just to find the abnormal findings.

In all sessions, participants will be divided into small groups (6-7 participants/group) using zoom breakout rooms. Facilitators, above lectures, will proceed the sessions by interacting the participants.

13:30-14:15 Interpretation of videofluoroscopic swallow study (VF)
14:20-15:05 Interpretation of videoendoscopic swallow study (VE)
