The 64th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society for Surgery of the Hand Greeting

Congress President
The 64th Annual Meeting of the Japan Society for Surgery of the Hand
Katsumi Tanaka, M.D., Ph.D.
Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery,
Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences, Nagasaki University
I am pleased to announce that the 64th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society for Surgery of the Hand (JSSH) will be held on April 22 (Thursday) and 23 (Friday), 2021 at Nagasaki Brick Hall. This is the first time for Nagasaki University to host the JSSH Annual Meeting, and we are both delighted and honored to be given this privileged opportunity. We are currently making preparations for the meeting through concerted efforts of our alumni and department members to welcome you.

At present, it is still difficult to predict when the Covid-19 crisis will recede, and we are carefully considering how best to hold the meeting safely. In principle, we hope to hold the meeting in a physical setting, while flexibly adjusting to changes in both the pandemic and social situations.

The theme of the 64th JSSH Annual Meeting is “Hand in Hand Together, Connecting History.” Through the meeting, we aim to connect History and our Academic society members, Nurture personal relationships and share our Dream to contribute to Society. Thus, we call the forthcoming meeting HANDS 2021. Under this theme, the meeting will offer venues for lectures, presentations and discussions in various related fields. JSSH is currently in the process of diversifying its activities, based on medical education that encompasses research, clinical practice and medical specialist systems. We also recognize the importance of cooperating with a diverse range of medical institutions and introducing artificial intelligence to connect our history to the future.

It is our pleasure to welcome you to Nagasaki, the birthplace of modern medicine in Japan, which started in the 16th century with the introduction of Western medicine, which was first brought by the Portuguese and Spanish and then by the Dutch.

We heartily look forward to your participation.
