I am pleased to announce that the 29th Annual Meeting of Japan Osteoporosis Society (JOS) will be held for three days from September 17 (Friday) to 19 (Sunday), 2027 at the Fukuoka International Congress Center and the Marine Messe Fukuoka Hall B. We are deeply grateful and honored to be given the opportunity to host this prestigious meeting.
The theme of the forthcoming JOS Annual Meeting is “The Strength of Bone, the Vitality of Life — Creating the Future through Collaboration —.” This theme reflects the fact that strong bones that support the body are essential for good health and vitality. It also indicates that osteoporosis treatment cannot be handled by one doctor alone: diverse health professionals need to work together. Such collaboration helps to effectively increase bone density and prevent fractures and will eventually lead to a brighter future.
The scope of the JOS is expanding year by year, and now includes: diagnostic imaging and bone turnover marker testing; pathological studies and clinical research; osteoporosis liaison service (OLS) and fracture liaison service (FLS) involving health professionals in diverse fields; and osteoporosis research and treatment focusing on drugs, exercise and nutrition. In addition, we provide training for certified physicians and osteoporosis managers and work with other academic societies to nurture health professionals, while also working with local communities and governmental agencies to prevent bone fractures and maintain overall bone and joint health through osteoporosis management.
To ensure that the 29th JOS Annual Meeting will be a meaningful occasion to discuss a wide range of topics concerning osteoporosis, we are drawing up a program that will enable participants to learn from lecturers invited from various specialties, discuss daily clinical practice, and gather the latest information. We thus hope to communicate the necessity and importance of osteoporosis treatment widely to doctors, nurses, pharmacists and all other health professionals.
The poster of this JOS Annual Meeting features a photograph of Fukuoka City seen from the sea, which is also used on the website of the JOS. The X-ray skeleton handshake signifies solidarity and collaboration. Fukuoka City is a compact city filled with many attractions—food, historical heritage, natural environment and urban convenience—and thus there’s no shortage of excursion options. Fukuoka is also renowned for fresh seafood from the Genkainada Sea.
