The 42nd Annual Meeting of the Japanese Association for Chest Surgery
Congress President: Kenichi Okubo, MD, PhD
Professor and Chairman, Thoracic Surgery, Institute of Science Tokyo
It is my great honor to host the 42nd Annual Meeting of the Japanese Association for Chest Surgery on May 15 - 16, 2025. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all the members for this opportunity.
The theme of this meeting is “Create a New Frontier”. Surgical approach in thoracic surgery has become endoscopic, thoracoscopic surgery or robot-assisted surgery, and less invasive than conventional thoracotomy. Segmentectomy has become a standard surgical care of early-stage lung cancer through evidences. In addition to previously established extended or reconstructive surgery for locally advanced lung cancer, molecular-target therapy or immune checkpoint inhibitors have become used before and after surgery, providing significant progress in the treatment. A number of therapeutic options have become available in the current clinical setting of thoracic surgery.
The progress of the thoracic surgery has been based on not only the skill and development of surgical technique but also relationship with advanced technology, medical-engineering collaboration, and industry-academia collaboration. In this academic meeting, we will prepare to discuss the front line of thoracic surgery, and to focus on the frontiers, such as basic science, advanced technology, and medical engineering bordering thoracic surgery.
This JACS 2025 Annual Meeting will be held in Daiba, Minato-ku, Tokyo, located in the artificial island in Tokyo bay, a scenic waterfront area and one of Tokyo’s most popular tourist destination. It is also easy to access from Tokyo Haneda International Airport. We look forward to your participation in this year’s annual meeting.
