第86回日本循環器学会学術集会

Greetings

On behalf of the members of the Japanese Circulation Society (JCS), I would like to welcome all of you to the 86th Annual Scientific Meeting of the JCS together with the Asian Pacific Society of Cardiology (APSC) Congress 2022 on March 11–13, 2022 at Kobe hosted by Prof. Hiroshi Ito.  At first, we would like to express heartfelt respects and gratitude to all of you who are working hard on the front lines of health care.  The 86th Annual Scientific Meeting of the JCS together with APSC will be held by remote web site due to the COVID-19 pandemic.  This scientific meeting is one of the largest academic meetings in Japan and we have had over 1900 abstracts.  The theme of this year is “Cardiology Spreading Its Wings” and you would learn new information of cardiovascular medicine.  JCS 2022 Kobe includes the Mikamo Lecture, and Mashimo Memorial Lecture which will be delivered by Professor Valentin Fuster, and Professor Shimon Sakaguchi, respectively.  In addition, we have plenary sessions and symposia including joint symposia with cardiology societies of foreign countries such as USA, Europe, China, Korea, and APSC designed by the JCS Program Committee.  We wish you would enjoy the science and medicine in the new style of Annual Scientific Meeting of the JCS together with WCC, and have a wonderful experience.

Ken-ichi Hirata MD, PhD, FJCS, FESC,
President of the Japanese Circulation Society

On behalf of the International Relations Committee, I would like to welcome all of you to the 86th Annual Scientific Meeting of the Japanese Circulation Society (JCS).
Although we will have the meeting online because of the COVID-19 pandemic, we have had over 2,500 abstracts and are planning to have ~20,000 participants.
We will also have many joint symposia with cardiology societies of foreign countries such as the American Heart Association (AHA), the American College of Cardiology (ACC), the European Society of Cardiology (ESC), Asian Pacific Society of Cardiology(APSC), Chinese Society of Cardiology(CSC) and Korean Society of Cardiology(KSC).
This year, the meeting will be held jointly with the Asian Pacific Society of Cardiology (APSC) Congress 2022, which is chaired by Professor Takashi Akasaka of the Department of Cardiovascular Medicine of Wakayama Medical University. We have many Asian sessions where representatives of cardiology societies of Asian countries will present topics of each country and discuss them among Asian colleagues. In addition, we are pleased to start International Young Investigator Awards (Clinical Research and Basic Research) from this year. We look forward to many more years of success and long-lasting cooperative activities with Asian countries, and will continue working toward cardiovascular health and human welfare.
We have ~ 300 special presentations and ~2,500 abstracts each year, and half of them are presented in English as one of official languages. Thus, we hope many participants from abroad would be actively involved in the meeting and use the Annual Scientific Meeting of JCS as “virtual Agora” of science and friendship.
It is unfortunate not to meet face to face but we really hope you enjoy the cardiovascular science and medicine in the JCS Scientific Meeting even under COVID-19 pandemic.

Issei Komuro, MD, PhD, FJCS, FAPSC, FAHA, FESC, FISHR
Chairperson of the International Relations Committee and President of APSC

On behalf of the Scientific Meeting Steering Committee, I would like to welcome all the participants in the 86th Annual Scientific Meeting of the Japanese Circulation Society. Due to the tremendous impact of COVID-19, we have changed our initial plan from a hybrid format to a fully web-based format. However, we have also found that the web-based format we have developed over the past two years allows for a good exchange of academic content. I sincerely hope that all participants will enjoy this meeting, which is a forum for the broad and high level of academic exchange in the field of cardiovascular medicine.

Yuji Ikari, MD, PhD, FJCS
Chairperson of the Scientific Meeting Steering Committee
