Greetings

- The 79th Annual Congress of the Japan Society of
Obstetrics and Gynecology Congress President
Professor and Chair, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology,
Yokohama City University School of Medicine - Etsuko Miyagi MD, PhD
It is my great honor and privilege to extend my warmest greetings as Congress President of the 79th Annual Congress of the Japan Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology, to be held from April 23 to 25, 2027, at PACIFICO Yokohama North.
It has been 31 years since our institution last hosted this annual congress, when the late Professor Emeritus Hiroshi Mizuguchi served as President of the 48th congress in 1996. Over the past three decades, medicine has advanced dramatically, with research and clinical practice evolving into a dynamic, bidirectional relationship in which clinical challenges increasingly inform and drive basic research. In this context, this congress aims to provide a platform to share the seamless progress of obstetrics and gynecology.
The theme of this congress, “Orchestrating the Future of Obstetrics and Gynecology,” reflects our vision that diverse fields—perinatology, gynecologic oncology, reproductive medicine/endocrinology, and women’s healthcare—will harmonize like an orchestra, each contributing uniquely while collectively shaping the future of our discipline.
The scientific program will feature symposia on cutting-edge topics such as genome editing, big data analytics, and the real-world application of translational research. We are honored to welcome outstanding physician-scientists who will lead the next generation. In addition, a wide range of educational sessions for participants at all career stages, along with special presidential programs featuring leading experts from Japan and abroad, will foster active and meaningful discussions.
Our field currently faces numerous important challenges, including building sustainable healthcare systems in response to demographic changes, training the next generation of physicians, advancing preventive medicine, strengthening reproductive medicine, adapting to work-style reforms, reorganizing perinatal care systems, and enhancing disaster preparedness. It is my sincere hope that this congress will serve as a catalyst for addressing these issues.
The congress will coincide with the International Horticultural Expo 2027 “GREEN × EXPO 2027”, providing a wonderful opportunity to experience the vibrant city of Yokohama. We hope that all participants, including accompanying family members and international guests, will enjoy a memorable stay enriched with hospitality inspired by flowers and music.
With the generous support of the City of Yokohama, the Kanagawa Association of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, and many others, our entire team is working diligently to prepare for this congress. We very much look forward to welcoming you to Yokohama.
