The 47th Annual Scientific Meeting of the Japan Atherosclerosis Society

Message from President

Yasufumi Sato, President

I have been appointed to serve as the president of the 47th Annual Scientific Meeting of the Japan Atherosclerosis Society to be held in Sendai this coming July 2015.

Looking back over the history of the Japan Atherosclerosis Society (JAS), I see that it has been 30 years since the last Annual Scientific Meeting was held in Tohoku. It was the 17th meeting held in Sendai under the leadership of Dr. Yoshio Goto back in 1985. I believe bringing the meeting back here after all these years presents us with a wonderful opportunity. I look forward to working hand in hand with JAS members in Tohoku to make sure we are completely ready for the event and that everyone attending will fully enjoy their stay in Sendai.

The 47th Annual Scientific Meeting will be held under the banner of "Innovations in Atherosclerosis Studies." While this theme embodies my commitment as the new president of the society, I chose it so that we can look at our current initiatives with an eye to the future. Everyone's participation at the meeting is sure to broaden the horizons of atherosclerosis research.

The Sendai International Center, where the meeting is scheduled to be held, will open a new exhibition facility in March 2015. This venue, with its ample space, is the perfect place for this meeting. I hope many will attend and seize the opportunity to present exciting research findings, exchange opinions, and engage in open discussions.

September 2014
Yasufumi Sato, President
