Visiting assistant professor at Carnegie Mellon University, Assistant professor of Faculty of Letters, Hokkaido University, Professor of Faculty of Science and Technology, Keio University, 1993 to 2001: Dean of the said Faculty of Science and Technology, 2001 to 2009: President of Keio University
Currently, President of the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS), Chairperson of the Artificial Intelligence Technology Strategy Council, Chairperson of the Japanese National Commission for UNESCO, etc.
Other positions he assumed include: Chairperson of the Central Council for Education, Chairperson of the Association of Pacific Rim Universities (APRU), President of the Information Processing Society of Japan (IPSJ), Chairperson of the Japanese Cognitive Science Society (JCSS), Member of the Science Council of Japan. He majored in information science and cognitive science. |
