Abstract Submission Period

Presentation Formats

Paper Posters will be exhibited and presented at the poster venue.
Abstract Submission Method
Abstract submissions will be accepted online only. Submissions by mail or FAX will not be accepted.
Please download the dedicated abstract submission form (Excel format), fill in all required information, and upload the completed form through the online submission form.
Please observe the deadline strictly for the preparation of the abstract book.

Presentation Eligibility
- The presenting author must be the first author of the abstract.
- Presenters may submit and present abstracts regardless of BCLA or JCLS membership status.
- For presenters who are not members of the Japan Contact Lens Society (JCLS), a Non-member Presentation Fee of JPY 10,000 is required, provided that the first author’s institutional affiliation does not include any institution based in Japan.
- This fee must be paid at the time of online registration. Payment of this fee is mandatory in order to obtain presentation eligibility.
- Further details will be provided at the time of the acceptance notification.
Abstract Submission Process
Please note that the applicant = first author = presenter.
Step 1: Download the Abstract Submission Form
Download the dedicated abstract submission form (Excel format)from the link provided at the bottom of this page.
Step 2: Complete the Abstract Submission Form
Fill in all required information in the Excel form according to the instructions below:
- Abstract Title
Within 80 half-width characters (including spaces) - Short Title
Within 30 half-width characters (including spaces) - Abstract Body
Within 1,200 half-width characters (including spaces) - Author Information
- First author (presenter) name, affiliation, and BCLA membership number
- Co-authors' names and affiliations (up to 14 co-authors; 15 people including the first author)
- Up to 15 affiliated institutions can be listed
- Application Category

After successful submission, a confirmation email will be sent to your registered email address. Please confirm receipt.
Input Regulations
- The abstract body must be written with the following sections in order: [Purpose], [Methods], [Results], and [Conclusion]. For case reports, technical or device innovations, etc., please change the section names appropriately (for example, for case reports: [Introduction], [Case], [Discussion], and [Conclusion] if necessary).
- Full-width characters count as 1 character, and half-width characters count as 1/2 character. Direct input of alphabet characters is half-width alphanumeric, so it counts as 1/2 character. Tags such as <SUP> are not counted in the character count. Half-width katakana, circled numbers, Roman numerals, special characters, and other platform-dependent characters cannot be used. When entering text, please check the "Notes on Input" posted on the registration screen.
- Describe methods and results concretely. Quantify what can be expressed numerically, and perform statistical analysis if possible.
- Conclusions and discussions should be based on the stated results.
- When describing bacteria with scientific names, please write them in italics.
Example) Staphylococcus aureus, S. epidermidis, Corynebacterium spp. - In principle, abbreviations cannot be used. However, they can be used only if they appear three or more times in the title and body. When using abbreviations, write the full term (abbreviation) at the first occurrence, such as pars plana vitrectomy (PPV). If using abbreviations in the title or short title would exceed the character limit, abbreviations can be used even at first occurrence, but be sure to write the full term (abbreviation) at the first occurrence in the body.
- Regarding an approval of the animal research and ethics committee, e.g. IACUC, please select whether you have obtained an approval of the committee or not necessary on the abstract submission form. This does not need to be stated in the abstract body.
- On abstract submission form, please select whether you have obtained an approval of the ethics committee, e.g. IRB, or if it is not necessary.
- If approval has been obtained, please also enter the approval number.
- This does not need to be stated in the abstract text.
- Regarding an approval of the animal research and ethics committee, e.g. IACUC, please select whether you have obtained an approval of the committee or not necessary on the abstract submission form.
- If approval has been obtained, please also enter the approval number.
- The author is not required to mention it in the abstract body.
- On the abstract submission form, please select whether you have obtained an informed consent, if it is not necessary, or if the study has been conducted by opt-out (obtained / not applicable / opt-out).
Additional Notes
- Abstracts without stated results will be subject to rejection.
- Do not describe content in the conclusion that is not stated in the results.
- Abstracts that are like "previews" such as "plan to investigate" or "will discuss" will be subject to rejection.
Notes on Duplicate Presentations
Papers that have been or will be presented in other ophthalmology-related academic meetings in Japan cannot be accepted. However, the following categories of papers will be treated as exceptions: specialized presentations (symposium, educational seminar, etc.), and papers presented at international academic meetings (in case of presentation at an international meeting convened in Japan, acceptable only if presented in English).
Notification of Abstract Acceptance/Rejection and Presentation Date/Time
Notification of abstract acceptance/rejection and presentation date/time will be sent by email in March (planned).
The results will also be posted on this website. Please entrust the decision on abstract acceptance/rejection to the conference president.
Handling of Personal Information
The "name," "contact information," and "email address" provided during abstract registration for this conference will be used for inquiries and presentation notifications from the secretariat.
Additionally, "author names," "affiliations," "abstract titles," and "abstract body text" will be used for publication in the abstract book and on the website. They will not be used for any other purposes.
All registered information will be strictly managed with necessary security measures.
