Shigeharu Oie President, 14th East Asian Conference on Infection Control and Prevention Department of Pharmacy, Yamaguchi University Hospital The East Asian Conference on Infection Control and Prevention was established primarily by Professors Hiroyoshi Kobayashi (of Tokyo Health-care University), Kang-Won Choe (of the Faculty of Medicine of Seoul National University), and Yong-Ho Kim (of Pusan National University). The conference is held annually in Japan, Korea, and China in turn. The conference has promoted academic exchange in the field of nosocomial infections among the three countries for thirteen years. The 14th East Asian Conference on Infection Control and Prevention will be held in Fukuoka in Japan. Since Fukuoka is located close to Korea and China, there are many Korean and Chinese residents in Fukuoka and Yamaguchi, a neighboring prefecture. Therefore, we are very honored to be able to hold the conference here in Fukuoka. The subjects of the conference will include sterilization service, MERS, SARS, Ebola, hepatitis C, influenza, nutrition, catheter-related infection, and other infection control-related topics. English-Japanese simultaneous interpretation will be provided at lectures and free papers' oral presentation. We hope that knowledge and findings obtained from the conference will promote the advancement of research on infection control.
