[How to submit a case report abstract]

The Case Report Session will be held in three formats during the 86th Annual Scientific Meeting of the Japanese Circulation Society (JCS2022):

To submit an abstract for the Case Report Session, please read the following instructions, then log in to the “Call for Abstracts” page by clicking the button below, and check the “Submit an abstract for the Case Report Session” box.
Period for initial abstract submission:
From 10:00 a.m. on July 7 (Wed.) to 6:00 a.m. on September 14 (Tue.), 2021 (Japan time)

* You cannot submit, revise or delete your abstract after the deadline.

* If you are in the process of submitting an abstract or revised abstract at 6:00 a.m. on the deadline date, your abstract will not be accepted. Please be sure to complete submitting your abstract or revised abstract by 6:00 a.m. on the deadline date.

* As the deadline approaches, the “Call for Abstracts” page may become slow due to the number of people trying to access the site. You are therefore strongly recommended to submit your abstract well in advance of the deadline.

1. Case Report Session for medical students and young doctors

  • How to submit an abstract
    This session is for medical students in the later years of study and young doctors with less than six years of experience. Please check the “Submit an abstract for the Case Report Session” box on the “Call for Abstracts” page and submit an abstract for the “Case Report Session for Residents.” Presentations can be made in Japanese or English. If you wish to make a presentation in Japanese only, please choose “Japanese only” as your presentation language.
  • Abstract guidelines
    Only unpublished abstracts on cases of cardiovascular diseases are accepted. Any abstract that has been previously presented as a case report or report of imaging findings will be rejected.
  • Format of abstract
    The abstract should be written in English. The body of the abstract, excluding the title, name(s) of author(s), and organizational affiliation, should be 260 words or less, and the title should be 20 words or less. Diagrams cannot be included in the abstract. The abstract should specify the patient’s age, gender, chief complaint, past medical history and current medical history, and include discussion and conclusions sections. The title of the accepted abstract, organizational affiliation and name(s) of author(s), and body of the abstract will appear in the abstract book in the exact format in which the abstract is submitted. Please carefully read the instructions given on the “Call for Abstracts” page before submitting your abstract.
  • Eligibility
    The lead author of the abstract should be a fifth- or sixth-year medical student or junior resident as of the date of submitting the abstract. Co-author(s) should be member(s) of the Japanese Circulation Society (JCS).
    If you are a medical student, master’s student or junior resident, JCS membership is not an eligibility requirement. Instead, you are required to submit a certificate that verifies your identity using the form which is available for download on the “Call for Abstracts” page.
    If you wish to enroll in the JCS, please complete the enrollment procedures on the following website. You will be given JCS membership upon payment of the membership fee (2,000 yen) and the annual fee for 2021 (15,000 yen for a regular member, 8,000 yen for an associate member).

2. Case Report Session for doctors

  • How to submit an abstract
    Please check the “Submit an abstract for the Case Report Session” box on the “Call for Abstracts” page and submit an abstract for the “Case Report Session for JCS members.” Presentations should be made in English only. Please select “Either English or Japanese” when submitting your abstract.
  • Abstract guidelines
    Only unpublished abstracts on cases of cardiovascular diseases are accepted. Any abstract that has been previously presented as a case report or report of imaging findings will be rejected.
  • Format of abstract
    The abstract should be written in English. The body of the abstract, excluding the title, name(s) of author(s), and organizational affiliation, should be 260 words or less, and the title should be 20 words or less.   • How to submit an abstract
    This session is for paramedical staff. Please log in to the “Call for Abstracts” page for the Case Report Session for paramedical staff by clicking the button below, and submit your abstract.
    Presentations may be made in Japanese or English.
  • Abstract guidelines
    Only unpublished abstracts on cases of cardiovascular diseases are accepted. Any abstract that has been previously presented as a case report or report of imaging findings will be rejected.
  • Format of abstract

    The abstract should be written in Japanese. The body of the abstract, excluding the title, name(s) of author(s), and organizational affiliation, should be 650 full-width characters or less, and the title should be 69 full-width characters or less. Diagrams cannot be included in the abstract.

    The abstract should be written in English. The body of the abstract, excluding the title, name(s) of author(s), and organizational affiliation, should be 260 words or less, and the title should be 20 words or less. Diagrams cannot be included in the abstract.

[Common Subject Matter]
  • Conflict of Interest in clinical research
    • Under the Regulations concerning Policy of Conflict of Interest (COI) in Clinical Research of the Japanese Circulation Society, all the lead presenters and co-presenters are required to report their COI status within the last three years when submitting abstracts, and to disclose any financial relationships they and their spouses, first-degree relatives, and household members may have with “businesses, corporate organizations and for-profit entities involved in clinical research” relevant to the themes of their presentations.
    • Co-presenters are required to report their COI status on the website whose URL will be sent to their email addresses registered at the time of abstract submission.
    • The COI status of lead presenters and co-presenters should be shown on the first presentation slide or the slide following the slide stating the theme and presenters, or at the bottom of posters.
  • Notification of screening result
    You will be notified of whether your abstract is accepted or not by email by the end of November 2021.
  • Outline of the Case Report Session and presentation format

  • Others
    • Lead speakers and co-speakers should be fully aware of COI issues.
    • You may withdraw your abstract only on condition that you notify your intention to withdraw at least two months prior to the first day of the JCS2022 (by January 11, 2022). On and after January 12, 2022, your abstract will be recognized as an official research presentation and cannot be withdrawn.
