Nobuyoshi Azuma M.D.

Congress President, 53rd Annual Meeting of JSCVS

Department of Vascular Surgery,
Asahikawa Medical University

It is a great honor for me to host the 53rd Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society for Cardiovascular Surgery. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all the members.

For more than two years, academic activities have been greatly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, limiting opportunities for face-to-face personal interaction and information exchange. I believe that we are now ready to move toward the next stage of restoring the environment for face to face discussions.

At this year's conference, we are preparing to discuss new research results and advances in treatment methods in all areas of cardiac and vascular surgery, as well as to focus on education of young surgeons, work style reform, data utilization and facility consolidation under the theme "Missions for Next Stage".

We are looking forward to welcoming approximately 20 invited speakers, world leaders in the field of cardiac and vascular surgery, who will come all the way from abroad to Asahikawa. These international exchanges will warm old friendships, create new friendships, and inspire young people.

The conference will be held in Asahikawa, Japan, on March 23 (Thursday), 24 (Friday), and 25 (Saturday), 2023.

There may be a certain amount of inconvenience to travel to Hokkaido, where the winter cold still lingers, but we hope that many of you will participate and submit excellent abstracts so that we can have fruitful and heated discussions that will pave the way to the next stage of the conference together with you.

Finally, I sincerely hope that the COVID-19 pandemic will be resolved and that you will be able to return to your academic activities amidst a peaceful world situation.
