I am honored to have been appointed President of the 70th Annual Meeting of the Japan Society of Human Genetics (JSHG), and am very grateful for the opportunity to work with JSHG members to prepare for this important event.

The 2025 JSHG Annual Meeting will be held at Pacifico Yokohama for four days from December 17 (Wed.) to 20 (Sat.), 2025. Professor Ohsuke Migita (Department of Laboratory Medicine, St. Marianna University School of Medicine) and Professor Atsushi Ozawa (Graduate School of Health Sciences, Gunma University) will serve as Vice-Presidents.

Thanks to the dedicated efforts of our past and current members, the JSHG has been growing rapidly in recent years. Accordingly, we have an even greater responsibility to contribute to research and clinical practice in genomic medicine. It is therefore timely for us to reflect on the role our society should play and the goals we should pursue as we look toward the future. We are committed to ensuring that this Annual Meeting provides a meaningful opportunity for participants to gain an overview of the current landscape and to discuss a shared vision for the future of the JSHG.

As part of this effort, we are strengthening the organizational foundation of the Annual Meeting with a medium- to long-term perspective, working closely with the Annual Meeting Steering Committee established last fiscal year as a standing committee. The program will also increase learning and presentation opportunities for younger participants, and increase the number of English presentations to promote international exchange. Through these initiatives, we hope that the 2025 JSHG Annual Meeting will offer a stimulating and exciting environment for academic exchange.

Although the end of the year is a busy time, we very much hope you will take the time to join us at the 2025 JSHG Annual Meeting and enjoy the celebratory atmosphere around Pacifico Yokohama during the most festive time of year.
