The theme of JSPEN2027 is “Fight against Anabolic Resistance” With the widespread adoption of the GLIM criteria, efforts to accurately diagnose malnutrition and provide appropriate nutritional care have expanded across Japan. At the same time, in daily clinical practice, many healthcare professionals encounter patients whose body weight or muscle mass does not improve sufficiently despite adequate nutritional intake.
Behind this challenge lies anabolic resistance, a complex condition influenced by inflammation, ageing, reduced physical activity, medications, and other factors. Anabolic resistance is a critical issue that directly affects the outcomes of nutritional therapy and should be shared and addressed collaboratively across professions. At JSPEN2027, we aim to face this challenge head-on and, together with our members, explore more effective and individualized approaches to nutritional care.
In this poster, we express this spirit of “challenge” through an homage to the iconic television commercial Apple Macintosh 1984. The commercial famously depicts a young woman throwing a hammer to shatter a symbolic wall representing a closed, centralized computer-dominated world, heralding the arrival of the personal computer and a new era.
The blue sky beyond the broken wall in the poster symbolizes a future in which nutritional therapy advances to a new stage through nutritional care that effectively controls anabolic resistance. Through JSPEN2027, we hope that multidisciplinary collaboration will deepen our collective engagement with this challenging condition and further enhance the quality of nutritional care in everyday clinical practice.
