Call for Abstracts

Abstract Submission Period

Noon, Friday, July 10 –Thursday, September 10, 2026 (UTC+9)

*There will be no extension.

Please follow the guidelines below to submit your abstract to JOA2027. Please note that we do not accept any e-mail submission. All applications must be submitted online. Accepted abstracts will be presented either as oral presentations using PowerPoint slides or as poster presentations with a printed poster and interactive discussion with attendees.

Author Name

The first author must be the speaker.

A maximum of 11 co-authors including the top author can be registered.

Affiliation

Up to 11 affiliations can be registered.

Abstract Title

Up to 20 words
The first letter of each word should be upper case letters (Head Capital). Prepositions and articles should be lower case letters (except at the beginning of sentences).

Abbreviations, such as MRI, should be upper case letters; technical terms that should be lower case letters only, should be lower case letters.

Words after a "-" (hyphen) should begin with lower case letters.

Abstract Body

Up to 250 words
In principle, abstracts published in The Journal of the Japanese Orthopaedic Association must be structured abstracts. Please type colon (:) after each section title to make it easier to read.

e.g., Purpose, Methods, Results, and Conclusion
No chart, graphic, figure and table can be uploaded.

<Important Notice>
If an accepted presenter is a no-show on the day of the presentation at JOA2027 without prior notice, their abstract(s) will not be considered for acceptance at JOA2028.

How to Submit

Please click on the "Submit your abstract from here" button below when you submit for the first time. If you wish to submit another abstract or to amend your submitted abstract, please click on the same button and log in with your ID and password which will be notified by e-mail after you finished initial submission of your abstract.

Notification of Acceptance

Notification of acceptance/rejection will be sent to the submitting authors in December 2026. If you would not receive it by then, please contact the Congress Secretariat by email at joa2027-abs@m.congre.co.jp.

JOA Travel Grant

The 100th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Orthopaedic Association encourages orthopaedic surgeons from abroad to submit abstracts for oral and/or poster presentations. Any submitted abstracts are eligible for travel grant application. The Japanese Orthopaedic Association Committee will select about 30 abstracts for the travel grant. The first author of the selected abstract will be awarded JPY 100,000.

Note

  • There are no age restrictions for applicants.
  • Applicants will be notified of the results by email in December 2026. The results will be final and not subject to reconsideration.
  • The travel grant will be provided in person upon completion of the on-site presentation.
  • Please note that complimentary accommodation will not be provided. Participants are responsible for arranging and covering the costs of their own transportation and accommodation for attending the congress.

Kindly note that if you are in the middle of submitting or editing an abstract when the maintenance begins at 9:00 a.m., your session will be interrupted and any unsaved data may be lost. We therefore kindly ask you to avoid using the system shortly before the maintenance period.
