It is a great honor and privilege to serve as the President of the 62nd Annual Meeting of the Japan Society of Hepatology. I am Shuji Terai from Niigata University.
I want to express my gratitude for being entrusted with this distinguished responsibility. Together with my colleagues and alumni of the Department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, I am fully committed to making this meeting a resounding success.

The theme of this year’s meeting is: “Light: Enlightenment — Ittō Shōgu”
With the guiding principle of “Healing together, building hope, lighting the future,” we aim to explore how the power of science, medicine, healthcare, and people can be harmoniously united to save the lives of those suffering from liver diseases and to shape the future of truly meaningful medicine.
While conventional medicine has focused primarily on “curing,” the time has come for us to emphasize preventing the onset, halting the progression, and supporting the quality and meaning of life. It is my earnest hope that this meeting will serve as a platform to deepen our understanding of such new paradigms in healthcare and to collectively ignite a light of hope for the future.
We are honored to welcome many distinguished speakers from Japan and abroad, and have prepared a wide array of enriching academic sessions. In addition, the 52nd Annual Meeting of the Acute Liver Failure Study Group of Japan and the 12th Conference on Liver, Diabetes, and Metabolism will also be held before and after the main congress, jointly forming the “Niigata Liver Symphony.” This integrated academic program promises to foster meaningful and comprehensive exchange.
In the refreshing season of early summer, we look forward to welcoming many of you to Niigata.
Through active discussions and warm exchanges among all participants, may we together light the “beacon of hope” that will illuminate the new horizon of hepatology. I sincerely look forward to your participation.

Sincerely,

Shuji Terai, M.D., Ph.D., FAASLD
