Awards for Academic Excellence

Abstract Submission Period: January 29, 2025 - March 19, 2025

Abstracts must be submitted via the UMIN (University Medical Information Network) online abstract submission system.
The link to the registration page is at the bottom of this page.
This system has been tested with the latest versions of [Firefox], [Google Chrome], [Microsoft Edge], and [Safari].
Please use the latest version of any of the above browsers for abstract submission.

The 57 Annual Meeting of the Japan Society for Medical Education will award "Awards for Academic Excellence" to the most outstanding abstracts among free papers.

Abstracts submitted for the "Awards for Academic Excellence" session will be subject to a preliminary selection process. The abstracts that can pass the preliminary selection will be presented in the "Awards for Academic Excellence" session during the conference, in which the final selection will be made.
The abstracts that can not pass the preliminary selection will be accepted or rejected as regular Free papers by peer review and the presentation format will be decided.
The following two types of awards will be given for the best presentation. The conditions for each are different, so please check the conditions before submitting your presentation. Only one presentation is allowed per person as the first speaker.
* If there is any misrepresentation regarding the submission requirements, the abstract will be withdrawn.

1. Young Investigator Award: several persons
As a supplementary award, a travel subsidy will be provided to the first speaker.
Overseas residents will receive 50,000 yen and domestic residents will receive 20,000 yen.
Please note that the amount of the travel subsidy may be subject to change in the unlikely case where the event is held online.

<Application Requirements>
All of the following conditions must be met in order to apply:

  • Applicant must meet the eligibility requirement for Free papers.
  • The language of abstracts and presentations must be in English.
  • Applicants must be under 40 years of age or have been a graduate for less than 15 years as of March 31, 2025.
  • Not be a professor as of March 31, 2025.
  • Abstract preparation must be in accordance with the Call for Abstracts.

2. Student Award: Several students
The first speaker will receive a commemorative gift as a supplementary award.

All the following conditions must be met in order to apply:

  • Applicants must meet the eligibility requirements for Free papers.
  • Applicants must be undergraduate students as of during abstract submission period.
  • Abstract preparation must be in accordance with the Call for Free papers.
  • Abstracts may be written in any language and presented in any language.

Cautions when registering

  • Submitted abstracts will not be proofread in principle. Please be aware that the abstract will be printed as is, so it is the responsibility of the submitter to prepare the abstract accordingly.
  • To avoid garbling and deformation, please follow the notes on the registration page regarding special characters, symbols, and key brackets.
  • Please do not use more than three line feeds for reasons of space limitation.
