Bayram Yilmaz

Bayram Yilmaz is a Professor of Medical Physiology at Dokuz Eylül University in Izmir, Türkiye. He has a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Firat University (Türkiye) and PhD in Medical Physiology from University of Glasgow (UK). He worked as a Research Assistant Professor at the State University of New York at Albany, and Visiting Scientist at the King’s College London and at the University of Oxford. He is an author of seven book chapters and 162 refereed articles (h-index 36, >3800 citations, Scopus; h-index 45, >6500 citations, Google Scholar). His research interest includes neuro-endocrine regulation of energy homeostasis and reproductive hormones in experimental models. He also works on presence of endocrine disrupting chemicals in human (breast milk) and environmental samples using in vitro and in vivo test models.

Professor Bayram Yilmaz served as Secretary General at Federation of European Physiological Societies (FEPS) between 2013-2022. He was the founder and president of Turkish Neuroendocrinology Society (2008-2018) and currently is the president of Turkish Neuroscience Society. He lectures to both medical students and post-graduate students on medical physiology and research methodology in Neuroscience and Neuroendocrinology. He previously served as the Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Director of the Graduate School of Health Sciences at Yeditepe University between 2013-2024. Professor Yilmaz worked as the Director of Izmir Biomedicine and Genome Centre between 2023-2025 where is now an ExCo member. He is currently the President of Dokuz Eylul University in Izmir, Türkiye.
