Ismail Ahmed is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Neurobiology at the University of Utah School of Medicine, where he leads a research program investigating how neuropeptides modulate neural circuits to drive behavior and physiology. Trained in chemical biology and neuroscience, he develops tools to track and manipulate neuropeptide signaling. Recognized by the Burroughs Wellcome Fund Career Awards at the Scientific Interface and as an Allen Institute Next Generation Fellow, his work examines neuropeptide roles in regulating behavior and brain–body communication. By integrating chemical biology with systems and molecular neuroscience, his lab advances understanding of neuropeptide signaling and its therapeutic potential.
