Guidelines for Slide Photography & Social Media Posting at JSMO2026

The Japanese Society of Medical Oncology (JSMO) encourages the use of social media to facilitate academic discussions and networking. At JSMO2025, slide photography and social media posting were permitted only for selected presentations programs (invited abstracts) where presenter consent is obtained. Starting from JSMO2026, this policy will be expanded to include general presentations (*non-invited abstracts).
We kindly ask all participants to carefully review the guidelines below and adhere to the established rules when engaging in social media activities.

Programs Permitted for Photography and Social Media Posting

Only presentation slides with presenter consent are allowed for photography and social media posting.

  • Even in the Eligible Programs, photography of slides marked "DO NOT POST" is prohibited.

Guidelines for Slide Photography and Social Media Posting

  • Do not use flash or make loud shutter noises that may disrupt lectures or audience members.
  • Even if a presentation is permitted for photography, do not capture slides containing identifiable personal information or sensitive privacy-related content.
  • Only presentation slides may be photographed. Do not post photos of speakers, chairs, attendees, or any personally identifiable images on social media.
  • Regardless of membership status, please adhere to the JSMO Social Media Guidelines (in Japanese).

1. Respect Third-Party Rights
Do not infringe on copyright, trademarks, portrait rights, or other intellectual property rights.

2. Comply with Relevant Laws and Regulations
Follow the latest legal requirements, including personal data protection laws. Users must not post content that infringes on human rights, promotes discrimination or defamation, risks leaking personal information, or violates public order and morality.

3. Consider Ethical Implications
Avoid socially inappropriate content, coercive messaging, or fear-inducing statements.

4. Post Accurate and Evidence-Based Information
Do not share unverified, non-scientific content or promotional material for commercial entities.

5. Be Mindful of Others’ Interests
Do not post defamatory, slanderous, or discriminatory content.

  • If requested by JSMO staff, please follow their instructions, regardless of the above guidelines.
  • Violation of these rules may result in further action, including requests for disclosure of information by JSMO.
