About Makuhari Area
Makuhari is a modern coastal district in Chiba Prefecture, located about 30 minutes by train from central Tokyo. The area is home to Makuhari Messe, one of Japan's largest convention centers, as well as large shopping malls, seaside parks, and hotels, making it a convenient and comfortable base for both business and leisure.
With excellent access from both Narita and Haneda International Airports, Makuhari offers visitors not only an ideal conference environment but also opportunities to enjoy shopping, dining, and entertainment, all within walking distance of the venue.
Weather
The weather in Chiba during August is typically hot and humid, with average daytime temperatures ranging from 25 to 32 degrees Celsius (77 to 90 degrees Fahrenheit). Light clothing is recommended, but please be mindful of strong air conditioning inside conference venues, shopping malls, and trains. Staying hydrated and using sun protection such as hats or parasols is strongly advised when spending time outdoors.
Currency
The official currency in Japan is the yen. You can obtain yen at currency exchange counters located in major airports worldwide, including Narita and Haneda International Airports, as well as at exchange outlets in Chiba. For convenience, exchanging currency at the airport is recommended. Most major foreign currencies and travelers' checks can be exchanged at banks and hotels. A passport may be required for currency exchange.
Credit Card
Most hotels, major department stores, and restaurants accept VISA, MasterCard, JCB, American Express, and Diners Club. However, some shops do not accept credit cards. Carrying some cash is recommended.
ATM
Many ATMs in Japan do not accept cards issued outside of Japan. Exceptions are ATMs at post offices and 7-Eleven convenience stores, which accept major international cards (Visa, Plus, Mastercard, Maestro, Cirrus, American Express, JCB) and provide English menus. International ATMs can also be found at international airports and major department stores.

Electricity
Voltage in Japan is 100V A.C., 2-flat-pin plug Type-A. It is difficult to find 3-pin compatible sockets, 120V, 200V, and 220V. An adapter is advised for the use of electrical equipment.
Water
Tap water is safe to drink throughout Japan. Bottled mineral water is also widely available.
Smoking
Smoking is prohibited inside most buildings and stations, except in designated smoking areas. Some outdoor public areas also prohibit smoking.
